Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My child has never played the sport before. Are your programs suitable?
A: Yes. Our programs are designed to be an introductory program and all players are placed into groups of similar age and ability.
Q: What is the registration process?
A: To ensure your child has a place in their chosen program, you will need to register by phone, fax, email or our Contact Us page. If registering by email or fax, you will receive confirmation via return email or phone. Once registered, please bring your signed consent form and payment to your first session. Registrations will not be accepted after the first session.
Q: How do I pay?
A: Payment at the first session is accepted by cash, cheque (made payable to Get Active Sports) or credit card by completing the payment details on the Consent Form. Payment by credit card can also be made over the phone prior to the first session or on a faxed consent form.
Q: Can I join in with my child?
A: In our Junior programs there are some skill work drills that require a partner. We ask that parents work with their children in the 3 and 4 year old sessions to help them with these skills. Many children at this age are trying sport for the first time and are shy, apprehensive and nervous, so we want their first sporting experience to get off to a good start.
Generally, 5 and 6 year olds are more able to work by themselves and under the direction of the coach. Parents are welcome though to help and guide their child throughout the session if the child requires it.
Our after school “For All” programs cater for children working specifically with the coach only, but if you feel your child needs a hand, please advise your coach so that they are aware that it is your child that you will be helping.
Q: Why are sessions held indoors when it is an outdoor sport?
A: Some of our “For All” and all of our “For Juniors” sessions are held indoors to cater for all weather conditions. In some instances we are unable to use school ovals as they are unavailable due to water restrictions.
